I'm what some refer to as a 'Self taught Artist'. Essentially, I forged my own path. From an early age I had a deep longing to paint. At first I experimented, dabbled, I skirted around. I dipped a toe in this, an elbow in that, deciding the temperature just wasn't right. I read, explored, practiced. And then I discovered Watercolour, set sail and never looked back. My paintings now travel much further than me, Australia, Canada, US and Europe. I hope you like what you see because I love what I do.
I paint Landscapes and Seascapes with bold and emotive skies, guided by nature’s wonderful colours and a healthy imagination. Animals and flowers as I see them, sometimes quirky, sometimes haunting and expressive. My paintings are inspired by places I have visited and memories I hold close.
My Original Paintings are mostly supplied unframed and unmounted, unless offered with a frame. My paintings are a standard A4 (297mm x 210mm) or A3 (420mm x 297mm) size. I use only artist quality paints and paper and work from my home studio in Staffordshire.
Although I work predominantly within the medium of Watercolour, I do occasionally produce work in Acrylic and Oil - blink and you might miss it!
As the years go by I find myself producing more Abstract work to complement my portfolio, I enjoy using forms, shapes and colours to represent a visual reality, an idea, a feeling, a memory.
Commission work available, please contact me direct for more details.
I focus on Landscapes, Seascapes and Animal art, I can work from your original photo or your idea. Owning an original piece of art that has a unique place in your heart is one of the best gifts you can give yourself, or others.
I now offer a limited selection of high quality Giclée prints of select works. My art is also available for use with textiles and books / publications. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss it further.
Although mostly self-taught, I have learnt a great deal from the Masters, a hundred books and more tutorials than you could shake a brush at.
I have also studied Watercolour with the London College of Art where I gained a Distinction in Watercolour Diploma.
Art, naturally. Runner, cyclist, hiker, camper, passionate about wildlife and natural history, lover of the coast, wild swimming, cosy pubs and real ale. I imagine a thousand compositions and I want to paint them all. Mad for Indie Folk, reading, history. Husband, father.
I live on the beautiful and rugged Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides.
